58 years have passed since the passing of Mother of the Nation, Fatima Jinnah.

Lahore: 58 years have passed since the death of Mother of the Nation Fatima Jinnah, her death anniversary is being observed today.

Ms. Fatima Jinnah played an important role in advancing the Pakistan Movement at every step alongside Quaid-e-Azam, and the Pakistani nation still salutes her for her undying services.

Quaid-e-Azam’s youngest and most beloved sister, Fatima Jinnah, was born on July 31, 1893 in Karachi. She was called the Mother of the Nation due to her important role in the freedom movement. She passed the dental surgery examination from Calcutta University in 1919 and initially worked as a dental surgeon in Bombay.

After the death of Quaid-e-Azam’s wife in 1929, Ms. Fatima Jinnah began playing a practical role in politics. She devoted her days and nights to guiding the Muslim women of the subcontinent and mobilizing them for the freedom struggle.

Fatima Jinnah formed the Women’s Relief Committee after the establishment of Pakistan, which later became the foundation of the All Pakistan Women’s Association. Fatima Jinnah re-emerged on the political scene in the 1960s and was the Leader of the Opposition from 1960 to 1967.

Ms. Fatima Jinnah was found dead at her residence in Karachi on July 9, 1967, at the age of 73. Her mausoleum is within the premises of the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum. The Pakistani nation still salutes her for her undying services.
