Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif departs for an official visit of China

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Finance and Revenue Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Petroleum Mossadegh Malik and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar are also accompanying the prime minister.

Lahore: (04 June 2024) Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is visiting China from June 4 to 8 on the special invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang.

The Prime Minister’s visit to China is of great importance for the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and further development of Pakistan-China strategic and economic relations.

The Prime Minister will visit the Chinese city of Shenzhen in the first day of his visit. The Prime Minister will participate in a business forum in Shenzhen, China to promote partnership between businessmen and investors of the two countries. Moreover, the Prime Minister will also visit Nanshan One Window to observe the Chinese One Window operation. The Prime Minister will also visit the headquarters of Huawei in Shenzhen.

In the second day of the Prime Minister’s visit, the Prime Minister will visit Beijing.  The Prime Minister will meet the Chinese top leadership in Beijing. The Prime Minister will hold meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Chinese counterpart, Premier Li Chiang. The Prime Minister will participate in the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between China and Pakistan on cooperation in various fields. The Prime Minister will also meet senior government officials, heads of various companies and Chinese investors in Beijing. The Prime Minister will also visit the People’s Monument in Beijing.

In the last day of his visit to China, the Prime Minister will go to the Chinese city of Xi’an, where along with meetings with top local leaders, the Prime Minister will also visit model farms and green technology companies to observe modern technology related to Chinese agricultural development.

During the visit, not only the second phase of CPEC, strategic partnership, but also cooperation in trade and investment, defense, national and regional security, energy, space research, science and technology, education and skills and cooperation between China and Pakistan. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s visit to China will prove to be an important milestone in giving a more positive direction to the partnership between the two countries.
