The discussions about the cover drive of former national team captain Babar Azam also started echoing in the ICC World Test Championship final.
The teams of South Africa and Australia are competing in the final of the World Test Championship being played at the historic cricket ground of Lord’s and the battle has entered an interesting phase.
During the high-profile match, English commentator Nasir Hussain mentioned the technical flaws behind the dismissal of Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne and South African batter Ryan Rickelton, saying that both players lost their wickets while playing the same shot.
Nasir Hussain said that it is okay, the cover driver is a gentle shot for the eyes, Virat Kohli, Babar Azam come to mind.
He gave the example of South African captain Temba Bavuma that his hand-eye coordination was absolutely correct while playing the shot, but it was lacking in Labuschagne and Rickelton.
It should be noted that former English cricketer and commentator Nasir Hussain has been an unusually big fan of Babar Azam’s cover drive. He said in 2022 that he would use the former Pakistan captain’s trademark shot to teach children.
