The US has imposed war on Iran under fabricated and baseless pretexts, Iranian envoy says
New York: Iran’s representative to the United Nations Security Council, Amir Saeed Eravani, sharply criticized the United States, saying that the United States has imposed war on Iran under fabricated and baseless pretexts.
Eravani added that Iran reserves the right to self-defense and its response to the US’s open aggression will be “proportionate”, which will be determined by the Iranian armed forces.
In his lengthy statement, Eravani also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of pushing the US into another costly and baseless war.
The Iranian representative said that the actions of the US and Israel are “a clear violation of international law”.
Eravani also accused Israel of spreading false and misleading narratives about Iran, saying that Iran is close to obtaining nuclear weapons.
The Iranian representative added that the silence, double standards and interference of international organizations and some Western countries, including France and Britain, are equally condemnable.
At the end of his speech, Emir Saeed Iravani called on the Security Council to hold the United States and Israel fully responsible.
