Car washed away in storm drain; After female teacher, cab driver’s body also recovered

A day ago, the body of female teacher Anam Bashir and her cab were recovered from a storm drain.

Rawalpindi: The tragic incident that occurred during the heavy rains two days ago has taken a more heartbreaking turn. The body of the missing online cab driver Hussain Muawiya was also found in the Swan River on Thursday night.

Earlier, the body of school teacher Anam Bashir, who was riding in the cab, was recovered from the drain on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning in Lane No. 4, Westridge, near Range Road, when Anam Bashir, a female school teacher from Afshan Colony, booked an online cab to go to Islamabad for duty. During the heavy rains, when the vehicle reached Lane No. 4, the overflowing rainwater drain caused water to flow onto the road and the cab was swept away.

A few hours after the incident, the body of female teacher Anam Bashir was recovered from near the straw warehouse in the area of ​​Ratta Amral police station, while the cab was found submerged in a drain some distance away in a dilapidated condition. However, the driver Hussain Muawiya could not be traced, after which Rescue 1122 and Westridge Police continued the search operation for 2 consecutive days.

Finally, after sunset on Thursday evening, after receiving information about the presence of an unknown person’s body in the Swan River near Dhok Bawa area of ​​Rawat police station and Saddar Biruni, rescue and police reached the spot. With the help of a beard on the body’s face and a special thread bracelet on his wrist, the relatives identified him as the cab driver Hussain. According to the police, the deceased Hussain was a resident of Gujar Khan.

In the initial report issued a day ago regarding the incident, it was said that the body of a school teacher named Anam Bashir was found in a rain drain while the driver was missing. Police contacted the owners with the help of the vehicle’s registration, who said the vehicle was being driven by a man named Hasnain, who was taking passengers through an online cab service.
