In the next few months, more buses will be on the roads of Karachi, along with double-decker buses, Sharjeel Memon
Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to bring in a large number of EV and hybrid buses during the current financial year.
A high-level meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, in which the current status and progress of the ongoing construction work of the Red Line and Yellow Line BRT was reviewed in detail.
During the meeting, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon was given a detailed briefing on the progress of both the projects. Officials said that the Red Line BRT project is continuing as per its scheduled schedule, construction activities have also been intensified on various packages of the Yellow Line project.
Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon says that in the next few months, along with double-decker buses, more buses will be on the roads of Karachi, and the provincial capital is going to completely shift the transport system to EV buses. After EV buses for the first time in Pakistan, the Sindh government is also going to introduce double-decker buses for the first time.
He said that the Red Line and Yellow Line BRTs will prove to be a revolutionary change for the citizens of Karachi. The aim of BRT projects is to provide quality, safe and affordable transport to the citizens. The Sindh government is taking all possible steps to provide facilities to the citizens as per the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Sharjeel Inam Memon directed that there should be no compromise on quality in construction work, all projects should be completed within the stipulated time. He said that we want the people of Karachi to get world-class travel facilities, this is the manifesto of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s service.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, Managing Director of Sindh Mass Transit Authority Kamal Dayo, CEO Trans Karachi Fawad Ghaffar Soomro, Project Director of Yellow Line BRT Zameer Abbasi, and consultants and contractors associated with the project.
