The Guardian Council has ratified the bill passed by Parliament.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has said that Iran is now obliged to suspend its agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) after the Guardian Council ratified the bill passed by parliament.
Speaking to the media in Tehran, the foreign minister said: “The suspension of the agreement with the IAEA is now legally binding on us. We are bound by this law and its implementation will be ensured.”
He made it clear that Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA will now take a new form and major changes are expected in it.
The Iranian parliament recently passed a bill that allowed for limiting or suspending cooperation with the IAEA. Now the Guardian Council has given legal status to the bill, after which the Iranian government is obliged to implement it.
