Second Test: Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by an innings and 78 runs

Sri Lanka’s Patham Nissanka was declared Man of the Match for scoring 158 runs in the second Test.

Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 78 runs in the second Test match.

In the second and final Test of the series, which began in Colombo on June 25, Bangladesh won the toss and batted first and scored 247 runs.

The Sri Lankan team scored 458 runs in its first innings, taking a lead of 211 runs. Patham Nissanka 158, Dinesh Chandimal 93, Kusal Mendis 84 were prominent. Bangladesh’s Tejalul Islam took 5 wickets, Naeem Hasan 3 and Naheed Rana took one wicket.

The Bangladesh team also failed in its second innings and no player could stand against the Sri Lankan bowlers. On the fourth day of the match, the entire team was bundled out for just 133 runs, thanks to which Sri Lanka won the match by an innings and 78 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Prabath Jayasuriya took 5 wickets and Dahananjaya de Silva and Tharindu Ratnayake took two wickets each.

Sri Lanka’s Patham Nissanka was adjudged Man of the Match for his 158 runs in the second Test, while he was also named Player of the Series for his total of 369 runs in the series.
