JEDDAH: Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his delegation at the Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.
The meeting is part of efforts to strengthen ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran and promote mutual cooperation amid ongoing tensions in the region.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the two leaders reviewed the current state of Saudi-Iranian relations and discussed in detail recent developments in the region.
According to Arab media, Prince Mohammed bin Salman described the ongoing ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel as a positive step for security and stability in the region, and expressed hope that this progress will pave the way for lasting peace.
He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s long-standing position that diplomatic channels and dialogue should be prioritized to resolve regional disputes, so as to reduce conflicts and enable common development.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi praised Saudi Arabia’s condemnation of Israeli aggression and paid tribute to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s personal efforts to promote peace in the region.
The meeting was attended by Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, and National Security Advisor Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, among other senior Saudi officials.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Minister met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Mecca, where they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and the promotion of cooperation in the region.
During the meetings, the changing situation in the Middle East and joint measures to ensure security and stability in the region were also discussed.
