Targeting the Iranian nuclear program, which is monitored by the IAEA, is a dangerous precedent for international peace.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, while addressing the BRICS summit, called the recent military attacks by the US and Israel on Iran a clear violation of international law, the UN Charter and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Abbas Araqchi said that Israel, with the help and participation of the US, carried out a 12-day attack on Iran, in which hundreds of people were killed and nuclear and basic facilities were destroyed.
He said that on June 13, Israel targeted Iranian military and nuclear scientists, while on June 22, the US launched direct attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.
The Foreign Minister made it clear that targeting the Iranian nuclear program, which is monitored by the IAEA, is a dangerous precedent for international peace.
He said that the US and Israeli attacks are a violation of UN Resolution 2231. Iran’s nuclear program is completely peaceful and under international supervision. Instead of taking action against Israel, it has international support. The actions of the US and Israel have destabilized the global system.
Abbas Araqchi urged the international community, the United Nations and international organizations to hold accountable those who commit unilateral aggression, human rights violations and violations of international law.
He called BRICS the voice of the Global South and demanded that the principles of multilateralism, justice and peaceful resolution be defended.
