Former captains Sarfaraz Ahmed and Misbah-ul-Haq are serving for the National Cricket Academy.

Lahore: After all-rounder Shoaib Malik, two more mentors associated with the PCC, Saqlain Mushtaq and Waqar Younis, have left the board, while former captains Sarfraz Ahmed and Misbah-ul-Haq are serving for the National Cricket Academy.

Director Domestic Abdullah Khurram Niazi and General Manager Domestic Junaid Zia held a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore yesterday.

Director Domestic Abdullah said that a 15-member committee formed the schedule and system of domestic cricket after continuous consultation for 2 months. All regional presidents were included in it. Important decisions were taken in the light of the suggestions. All stakeholders unanimously agreed that 6 top teams will continue to be included in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, while 2 teams will qualify from the Hanif Muhammad Trophy and make a place.

He said that PCB officials, who reduced the number of teams from 18 to 8 in the Champions Cup and Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, ridiculously claimed that there was no change in the current domestic structure, the old system was maintained.

Abdullah said that a positive development is that from the next season, central contracts will also be given to players who perform outstandingly in domestic cricket. The aim is to further strengthen cricket at the grassroots level and provide financial security to the players.

The Director of Domestic Cricket said that Karachi is a big name and in the current season it will have the opportunity to make both teams make it to the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
