Agriculture Development Bank reveals failure to collect Rs9 billion from borrowers

Committee members are surprised that 1601 borrowers from across the country have not returned even a single rupee of their loans.

Islamabad: It has been revealed that the Agricultural Development Bank has not recovered Rs 9 billion from its borrowers.

The meeting of the Public Accounts Committee was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Junaid Akbar, in which it was revealed that the Agricultural Development Bank has not recovered Rs 9 billion from its borrowers.

During the meeting, the committee members were surprised that 1601 borrowers from across the country had not repaid even a single rupee.

On this occasion, audit officials said that 16 percent of the due amount has been recovered for borrowers from Quetta, Karachi and Lahore, however, the number of defaulters of the Agricultural Development Bank is increasing across the country.

Khawaja Shiraz inquired that the sector that is currently profitable in the country is banking, but why is the Agricultural Development Bank continuously sinking.

The chairman of the committee said that the recovery that has been made should be double-checked by the audit and the recovery of the rest should also be informed to the committee.
