Ali Amin Gandapur accused of bribery; petition filed for disqualification in Election Commission

Giving funds to another province’s bar association is a betrayal of the province’s trust, the petitioner said.

Peshawar: A petition has been filed with the Election Commission for the disqualification of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A petition has been filed with the Election Commission for the disqualification of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur over the issue of providing Rs 50 million fund to the Lahore Bar Association.

The petition against Ali Amin Gandapur has been filed by Advocate Arsalan Afridi in the Election Commission, in which it has been taken as a stand that the Chief Minister has decided to provide a fund of Rs 50 million to the Lahore Bar Association and the provincial cabinet has approved the provision of the fund.

According to the petition, providing funds to the bar association of another province falls under the category of bribery. The Chief Minister has betrayed the trust of the province. The province’s funds can be used in another province in the event of an emergency or a disaster.

The petition filed with the Election Commission states that the province is already facing economic difficulties, funds are being used outside the province’s treasury from above. The Chief Minister has hurt the trust of the province and violated his mandate and oath.

According to the petition, there are Supreme Court decisions, the Constitution and the NFC award regarding the use of the fund, so the Chief Minister should be disqualified and action should be taken according to the law. The Chief Minister should be de-notified from the provincial assembly seat.
