Another ship sank in Houthi rebel attack, 4 dead, 15 missing

The action was carried out as a show of solidarity with the Palestinians in order to increase pressure on Israel, said a spokesman for the Houthi rebels.

YEMEN: In another deadly attack by Yemen’s Houthi rebels in the Red Sea, the Liberian-flagged cargo ship Eternity Sea was targeted, sinking the ship.

According to foreign media, at least four people were killed in the attack and 15 are still missing. According to the European Union Naval Force, 6 crew members have been safely evacuated.

According to reports, the attack was carried out using a pilot boat and missiles, for which the Houthi group has claimed responsibility.

The group’s spokesman, Yahya Saree, claimed that the action was carried out as a show of solidarity with the Palestinians to increase pressure on Israel to stop its attacks on Gaza. According to the spokesman, the ship was heading towards Israel.

The video released by the Houthis includes scenes of the attack, the sounds of explosions and announcements to evacuate the crew. The group says that they provided some people with medical assistance and moved them to a safe location.

Meanwhile, the US mission to Yemen has accused the Houthis of kidnapping several surviving crew members and has called for their immediate, unconditional release.

The ship was severely damaged and sank off the coast of the Yemeni city of Hodeidah, which is under Houthi control, according to UKMTO and security firm Embry.
