Tournament likely to be moved from India, reports say
Due to the tense situation between Pakistan and India, the hosting of the Asia Cup 2025 is likely to be snatched from India.
According to media reports, India was supposed to host the Asia Cup this year, but due to the absence of the Indian team in the ICC Champions Trophy, Pakistan will now also play all its matches at neutral venues.
Apart from the Asia Cup, the main events also include the Women’s World Cup 2025 and the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 scheduled in India.
Reports have said that due to the recent tension between Pakistan and India, the event scheduled for September is likely to be shifted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
It is expected that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will finalize the United Arab Emirates as a neutral venue, but India will host the event.
In preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the current edition of the Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format. The tournament will last for two weeks and will feature 19 matches.
On the other hand, it is expected that Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi will officially announce the future of the tournament soon.
Earlier, news had emerged yesterday that talks were underway to play a tri-nation series between Pakistan, Afghanistan and the UAE in the Emirates before the Asia Cup, but the plan has not been finalized.
