Asia Cup; India to participate in event despite border tensions

Traditional rivals Pakistan and India will face each other

Despite the border tensions between Pakistan and India, the Indian team will participate in the Asia Cup event.

Media reports are claiming that before the T20 World Cup, fans will get to watch a high-voltage match between Pakistan and India as the traditional rivals will face each other in the Asia Cup 2025.

The event will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but the hosting rights will be handed over to India.

The Asia Cup is scheduled to be held in September this year, but no official schedule has been released in this regard.

Forbes has said in its report that if either Pakistan or India withdraws from the event, the media rights of the event (which were sold for $ 170 million) will be affected, so the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has reportedly decided not to complicate the situation and move the tournament to a neutral venue.

If the tournament is officially shifted to the UAE, it will be the fourth time that the country will host the event. The UAE first hosted the inaugural edition of the Asia Cup in 1984, followed by the fifth and 14th editions in 1995 and 2018, respectively, at the same venue.

It should be noted that this year’s Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format, which aims to prepare for the T20 World Cup 2026.
