Australia beat West Indies by 159 runs in first Test

Chasing 301 runs, West Indies were bowled out for just 141 runs in the second innings.

Bridgetown: Australia defeated West Indies by 159 runs in the first Test to take the series lead.

Chasing 301 runs on the third day of the match, the West Indies team was bundled out for just 141 runs in the second innings. Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood bowled brilliantly and took 5 wickets for 43 runs.

Earlier, Australia scored 310 runs in the second innings, in which Travis Head (61), Beau Webster (63) and Alex Carey (65) batted prominently.

For the West Indies, Shimron Joseph took 5 wickets and took a total of 9 catches in the match, but poor fielding wasted the team’s hard work.

For the West Indies, Shai Hope (30), Justin Graves (38*) and Shimron Joseph (44) put up some resistance, but the team could not get close to the target. Spinner Nathan Lyon took the last two wickets.

Australia were bowled out for 180 in their first innings, while West Indies scored 190 in their first innings.

The second Test of the three-match series between the two teams will be played in St. George’s from July 3, while the third Test is scheduled for July 12.
