Clean Punjab project limited to elite areas only

Residents of small areas are still forced to dispose of waste privately.

Like many projects of the Punjab government, the more than 190 million Shata Punjab project has remained limited to the elite areas.

Despite the passage of 4 months, its scope could not be extended to the entire province, due to which the residents of small areas are still forced to dispose of garbage privately, while the Shata Punjab project could not be launched in small areas of Lahore city, due to which these areas are presenting a picture of a shabby Punjab.

According to the details, the Punjab government had launched the Shata Punjab project for garbage collection and qualitative sanitation in the province, more than 4 months have passed and the project is visible only on advertising billboards and vehicles of solid waste management companies and the uniforms of cleaning sweepers.

In practice, the sanitation system in the backward areas of Lahore, including Wagah, Nishtar, Ravi, Samanabad, Data Ganj Bakhsh Town and others, is poor. In these areas, the Clean Punjab Project could not be launched practically, while garbage collection could not be started in the remaining places except for the areas of Gulberg Town, Raiwind, Jati Umra and Adda Plot.

The Clean Punjab Project is going on vigorously in the main highways and posh areas of Lahore.
