Darren Sammy fined 15% of match fee
West Indies coach Darren Sammy has been fined for criticising the third umpire in the first Test match between West Indies and Australia.
In the match played in Barbados, Darren Sammy expressed his anger at two decisions of the TV umpire, especially the decision to uphold the lbw out of second captain Roston Chase.
After the second day’s play, Darren Sammy said that he had reservations about Adrian Holdstock’s umpiring since the recent ODI series against England.
Darren Sammy was found guilty of breaching Article 2.7 of the ICC Rules, which relates to ‘publicly criticising or making inappropriate comments about any incident occurring during an international match or about any player, player support person, match official or team participating in an international match’.
The West Indian coach was fined 15 % of the match fee for violation of the first river as well as a de -merit point.
This is the first violation of Darren Sammy in the last 24 months.
