Ban on pillion riding to be implemented on 9th and 10th of Muharram
Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to impose Section 144 across the province in view of Muharram.
Section 144 will be imposed across Punjab from 1st to 10th Muharram, under which there will be a complete ban on displaying all types of weapons and incendiary materials in public places without the permission of the competent authority, and on raising inflammatory slogans and gestures that incite public sentiments, beliefs and sects.
The ban on pillion riding will be applicable on 9th and 10th Muharram. Senior citizens, women and law enforcement officials will be exempted from the ban on pillion riding.
There will be no new innovations in the processions and gatherings of Muharram. Statements and comments that incite sectarian or racial hatred through any means or device will also be banned.
Construction of morchas on the roofs of houses or other buildings located on the procession routes, and collection of stones, bricks, bottles or garbage on the roofs of buildings will be banned.
Spectators will not be allowed on the roofs of buildings or shop windows along the route during the procession. All restrictions, except pillion riding, will be applicable from 1st to 10th Muharram.
On the other hand, security has been tightened in the provincial capital in view of Muharram, Dolphin Squad, PRU are on high alert regarding security across the city.
Dolphin Force recovered firearms from a vehicle with tinted windows on Multan Road and arrested 5 suspects. The recovered weapons include 2 rifles, 3 pistols, dozens of bullets, and magazines.
According to SP Dolphin Arsalan Zahid, the suspects Kashif Ali, Muhammad Rahat, Azeem Anwar, Muhammad Mansab, and Basharat Ali were handed over to Chohang Police Station.
