It has been decided to manufacture and increase production capacity of computer-controlled fermenters locally.
The government has initiated important steps to strengthen the health sector in Pakistan and achieve self-reliance in the production of medicines at the local level.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Hussain Magsi met with stakeholders of the local pharma industry and informed them about new decisions for the promotion of local production, research and biotechnology.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Hussain Magsi held an important meeting with representatives of the local pharma industry in which he was informed about the Prime Minister’s directive to increase collaboration with local pharma companies.
Khalid Hussain Magsi said that on the instructions of the Prime Minister, instructions have been issued to cooperate with institutions to strengthen the local pharma industry so that the country can achieve self-sufficiency in the health sector.
During the meeting, it was decided to increase the production and production capacity of computer-controlled fermenters at the local level, while a plan has been made to develop a research and development system on modern lines for the production of biochemicals, biopharmaceuticals and bioproteins.
According to Khalid Hussain Magsi, the government’s goal is to promote a biotechnology-based economy by reducing dependence on imports for the production of medicines.
To meet the urgent needs of the pharma industry, a plan has also been formulated for the local production of APIs to ensure timely and quality supply of medicines.
The federal minister further said that the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) has been directed to directly contact local pharma companies and schedule a meeting with the Minister of Science and Technology so that all practical issues and requirements can be addressed quickly.
The aim of these government measures is to activate and strengthen the local pharmaceutical industry by finding solutions to the challenges faced in the health sector so that quality and affordable medicines can be made available to the public locally.
