Federal government sought response on Armed Forces joining civil service without examination

Armed Forces only have to give an interview to clear CSS, says petitioner’s lawyer

Islamabad: The Supreme Court has sought a response from the federal government on the inclusion of armed forces in the civil service without an examination.

A five-member constitutional bench headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan heard the matter. The court issued a notice to the federal government on Section 3 of the Civil Service Rules 1956.

Petitioner lawyer Ali Azeem Afridi said that a civilian has to first pass a written test and then an interview for CSS, while the armed forces only have to give an interview to clear CSS.

Justice Ali Baqir Najafi asked, which rights are affected by the entry of armed forces officers into the civil service?

The lawyer said that even after clearing the FPS, those who have taken CSS have to clear the written test.

The court issued a notice and adjourned the hearing for three weeks.
