The Additional District and Sessions Judge granted bail against surety bonds of Rs. 1 million each.
Rawalpindi: Additional District and Sessions Judge Majid Hussain Gadi granted bail to former PML-N senator Chaudhry Tanveer, named in the murder case of former parliamentary secretary Chaudhry Adnan.
Along with granting bail, the court also issued an order to submit two surety bonds of Rs 1 million each.
Chaudhry Tanveer was arrested from the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court on June 17. He was accused of playing a role in the conspiracy and planning of the murder of former member of the Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Adnan.
The murder case was registered at the Civil Lines police station on February 12, 2024. It should be noted that Chaudhry Adnan was targeted and killed near the Police Lines Gate.
Apart from Chaudhry Tanveer, Osama Chaudhry, Daniyal Chaudhry and Chaudhry Changez are also named in the case.
The Additional Sessions Judge remarked during the hearing that there was no solid evidence on record against the accused and no one could be detained for a long time without evidence. The court directed that the accused should follow the case and appear before the court on summons.
During the hearing, defense lawyer Chaudhry Yasir said that Chaudhry Tanveer has proven his innocence in this case and no evidence related to the murder conspiracy could be presented in the court. He said that all the bail bonds would be submitted to the court shortly.
It should be noted that Chaudhry Tanveer is suffering from a serious heart condition and is undergoing treatment at the Institute of Cardiology. The court ordered that he be released immediately after granting bail.
