Lahore: For the first time in the country’s history, Sialkot district has become an example of gender inclusion in the provincial bureaucracy, where there is now a female Deputy Commissioner and all four tehsil Assistant Commissioners are also women.
This is a milestone for women under the leadership of the province’s first female Chief Minister, Grade 19 officer Saba Asghar Ali officially assumed charge as Deputy Commissioner Sialkot on April 27, 2025, thus becoming the first female Deputy Commissioner of the district.
Since her appointment, DC Saba has taken initiatives focused on education, health, environmental protection and public welfare, which have been widely appreciated by her colleagues and the local community.
A career bureaucrat of the Pakistan Administrative Service, Saba Asghar Ali has previously served in various administrative and policy-making positions at the provincial and federal levels.
Known for her meticulousness, planning and public interest-based governance. She emphasizes transparency and citizen participation.
