Two rescue workers also died during the fire.
A terrible fire broke out in the old and densely populated area of Kochi Bazaar, Ag Mohalla Fazal Haq Karim Jan Market late last night.
According to Rescue 1122, the fire broke out in a residential house in which four members of the same family died, including two women.
According to Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi, upon receiving information, rescue teams immediately reached the spot and risked their lives to pull 6 people out of the building. Tragically, 4 of them, Riaz, Rafiq, Shahnaz and Rafiq’s wife, also lost their lives.
Two rescue personnel also became unconscious during the fire, who were shifted to the hospital after first aid. The spokesperson said that the rescue personnel managed to control the fire under extremely difficult conditions, however, cooling and search operations are still underway to prevent the flames from re-igniting.
