Permission to dig the road was granted with the approval of the Municipal Commissioner of Karachi Metropolitan Municipality.
Karachi: The Hakeem Ibne Sina Road in Nazimabad area of Shehr-e-Quaid, which was recently inaugurated by Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab on January 8, 2025 at a cost of crores of rupees, was dug up again after just a few months.
Surprisingly, the permission for this move was given by the Engineering Department of the Karachi Metropolitan Municipality (KMC), headed by Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab.
According to sources, the local body issued permission to cut the newly constructed road in exchange for a challan of just Rs 1.1 million.
Point number 7 of the challan clearly approved the cutting of the new road by showing it as a raw portion, which is a violation of the rules and regulations.
This permission was given with the approval of the Municipal Commissioner of the Karachi Metropolitan Municipality, which is being severely criticized by the public and civic circles.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, an FIR has also been registered against illegal road cutting at Nazimabad police station.
