Federal Defense Minister and PML-N leader Khawaja Asif has termed the increase in the salaries of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Senate and others as economic obscenity after public criticism.
On the social networking site X, Khawaja Asif wrote that ‘the huge increase in the salaries and benefits of the Speaker of the National Assembly, his Deputy, Chairman of the Senate and the Deputy falls under the category of financial obscenity.
He strongly opposed the increase in salaries and financial benefits and said that keep in mind the life of the common man, all our honor and dignity is due to them.
It should be noted that the salaries of members including the Speaker, Chairman of the Senate have increased immensely, with the salary of the Speaker and Chairman of the Senate reaching millions of rupees.
It should be remembered that the government has announced a salary increase of 6 to 10 percent for government employees in the budget for the next fiscal year.
