Kiwi cricketer drops star batter from all-time playing XI of the 21st century

Former Kiwi captain Kane Williamson also left Virat Kohli out of his 21st century playing XI after his retirement.

Cricinfo asked former Test cricketer Matthew Hayden and former captain Kane Williamson to make an all-time 21st century team, to which the former Kiwi captain dropped Virat Kohli from the playing XI while he included only one Pakistani star.

Kane Williamson included Matthew Hayden, Vinder Sehwag as openers, Ricky Ponting, Sachin Tendulkar, Steve Smith, AB de Villiers, wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as middle order, and Dale Steyn, Shoaib Akhtar, Glenn McGrath and Muralitharan as bowlers in his playing XI.

The star Kiwi cricketer’s playing XI included only one Pakistani bowler, Shoaib Akhtar, and no other Pakistani could make it.

Similarly, former Australian opener Matthew Hayden did not include any Pakistanis in his playing XI, instead he named Alastair Cook, David Warner, Jacques Kallis, Brian Lara (captain), Virat Kohli, VVS Laxman, Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Pat Cummins, Brett Lee and James Anderson.
