Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert Khuriyev met Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence.
ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was called on by Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert Khorev at his residence, during which the two leaders discussed the international, regional and domestic situation in detail.
During the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed satisfaction over Iran’s support in the context of the Iran-Israel war, while also expressing deep regret over the Palestine issue and the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. He appealed to Russia to intervene and play an active role against the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza.
Russian Ambassador Albert Khorev assured Russia of its role in the ceasefire in Gaza and the expulsion of Palestinians. He also exchanged appreciation expressed by Maulana Fazlur Rehman for Russia’s move to recognize the Afghan government.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman described the conference organized by Russia under the title of Asia-Europe Security as an important need of the hour, which aims to find a solution to mutual disputes. The Russian ambassador paid tribute to the struggle of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam against the colonial system and both sides agreed to continue the joint struggle against this system.
The two leaders also agreed to use mutual relations to protect interests. At the end of the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman hosted a dinner in honor of the Russian ambassador. Jalaluddin Advocate and Maulana Asjad Mahmood were also present on the occasion.
