Minister of State for Health Dr. Mukhtar Bharath meets Indonesian Minister of Health
Islamabad: Pakistan and Indonesia agree to cooperate in vaccine production.
According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Health Dr. Mukhtar Bharath met with his Indonesian counterpart in Jakarta, where they agreed to promote bilateral partnership in the health sector.
Dr. Mukhtar Bharath highlighted the profound impact of climate change on Pakistan’s health system and economy, saying that Indonesia’s malaria elimination strategy is commendable. Pakistan is keen to learn from Indonesia’s malaria control model.
Dr. Mukhtar Bharath said that he wants to benefit from Indonesia’s technical expertise, emphasizing the urgent need to establish a modern vaccine production facility in Pakistan and expressed his desire to benefit from Indonesia’s technical expertise and experience in this regard.
The Indonesian Health Minister responded positively to the Pakistani Health Minister’s proposal, and both the Health Ministers agreed that Pakistan would formally request Indonesia for cooperation in a modern vaccine production facility.
The Indonesian Minister said that Indonesia is committed to equity in global health, recognizes the importance of exchanging technology and resources with Pakistan, and together we can set a strong example of cooperation in the health sector.
Dr. Mukhtar Bharath said that this initiative will be a milestone towards self-sufficiency and affordable supply of vaccines and will help increase international cooperation and capacity in efforts to control infectious diseases.
