Pakistan’s airspace closed, Air India loses Rs 200 million daily

A formal letter has also been written to the Indian government seeking compensation for the loss.

New Delhi: Air India Chief Executive Officer Campbell Wilson has admitted that the closure of Pakistani airspace has significantly increased the airline’s costs and flight duration.

Campbell Wilson said that although his team continued the flights without any disruption, the closure of Pakistani airspace has increased the duration of flights to Western countries by an hour, which has had a negative impact on profits.

It should be remembered that after the recent tension, Pakistan had closed its airspace to India, which has affected not only Air India but also other Indian airlines.

According to sources, Air India is losing more than Rs 200 million daily due to this closure, and a formal letter has been written to the Indian government to compensate for this loss.

In this context, it should also be remembered that India, blaming Pakistan for the Pahalgam attack, carried out air strikes in various areas including Azad Kashmir, in which 5 Pakistani citizens were martyred and several were injured. In response, Pakistan shot down 6 warplanes, including Indian Rafale jets, and also targeted the S-400 anti-air system.
