Sewage samples were collected from 9 districts across the country, out of which 7 districts have confirmed the presence of polio virus type 1.

Samples taken from Pishin and Lahore were declared free of polio virus, while 45 million children were vaccinated in the three national campaigns of the polio program.
Moreover, more than 400,000 polio workers, including 225,000 women, are active in the campaigns. Parents have been appealed to make it mandatory for every child to be given polio drops every time.
However, on the other hand, the polio campaign in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing challenges. The Ministry of Health says that polio prevention is a joint responsibility of parents and the community. Every unvaccinated child can become a source of polio spread.
