The Prime Minister has sought a report, on the basis of which a decision will be taken on the salary hike, sources said.
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the increase in the salaries of the Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly and others.
According to sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken immediate notice of the increase in the salaries of the Chairman Senate, Deputy Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly and Deputy Speaker National Assembly and has sought a report from the Speaker and the Chairman.
Sources said that the Prime Minister will decide on the increase in the salaries of the Speaker National Assembly and Chairman Senate in the light of the report.
It should be noted that the salaries of members including the Speaker, Chairman Senate have increased immensely, which has made the salary of the Speaker and Chairman Senate worth millions of rupees, while the government has announced a 10% increase in salaries for government employees in the budget for the next fiscal year.
On the other hand, Defense Minister and PML-N leader Khawaja Asif has termed it as economic obscenity after public criticism of the increase in the salaries of the Speaker National Assembly, Chairman Senate and others. In his statement on social media, he opposed the increase in salaries and financial incentives.
