Head of anti-polio program Khizr Afzal says that the preparations related to the anti-polio campaign have been completed and the campaign will start from tomorrow.
Lahore (02 June 2024) Head of anti-polio program Khizr Afzal said that anti-polio program campaign is being organized in 6 districts including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Mianwali and Okara.
He said that the duration of anti-polio campaign in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad will be 7 days while in other districts it will be up to 5 days.
The head of anti-polio campaign also said that during the campaign, 6.4 million children will be vaccinated.
He said that more than 40 thousand polio workers will participate in this campaign, while more than 14 thousand polio workers will participate in Lahore.
Khizr Afzal said that the polio virus can spread in Punjab because the virus has been found in the environmental samples of the province and the summer season is very favorable for the polio virus.
He said that there is more traffic during summer and Eid holidays, due to which the risk of spreading the virus may increase
