Remains of a giant flying animal 200 million years old discovered in Arizona

Most previous pterosaur discoveries had been made in Europe and South America.

Recently, biologists in the US state of Arizona discovered the remains of a giant flying animal that is about 200 million years old.

These remains belong to an early pterosaur, which is one of the rarest discoveries of this era.

This is one of the oldest flying reptiles that belongs to the Triassic Period, that is, 200 million years ago.

The remains were discovered at the site of the Chinle Formation in Arizona, which is considered a geologically important area in the United States.

Its genus is called pterosaur. These were the reptiles that were able to fly in the air for the first time during the era of dinosaurs. Their wingspan was about 1.5 meters or more.

This animal had a light body and a long skull with teeth that enabled it to hunt other animals.

These remains provide the oldest evidence that pterosaurs existed in the early American Southwest.

Most previous discoveries of pterosaurs have been in Europe and South America. This discovery has expanded their geographic range.

According to experts, the discovery suggests that the evolution of flying reptiles occurred much earlier and more widely than previously thought.
