Reserved seats are the right of PTI, petition filed in Peshawar High Court

PTI was not heard, the court was provided with incorrect information regarding reserved seats, the petitioner said.

Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a formal petition in the Peshawar High Court regarding reserved seats.

The petition was filed by PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa General Secretary Ali Asghar, in which the position has been taken that reserved seats are a constitutional and legal right of PTI.

The petition states that PTI was not heard in this important matter and the court was provided with wrong information regarding reserved seats, which affected the court’s decision. The Peshawar High Court’s decision of March 13 and 14, 2024, should be declared null and void and the court should provide the petitioner with an opportunity to present his position so that the requirements of justice can be met.

The Election Commission of Pakistan, including others, have also been made parties in the petition.

It should be noted that this legal step has been taken by PTI at a time when the party is of the opinion that its constitutional right to reserved seats is being ignored, which is a violation of the principles of representation.

The court is expected to announce the date of hearing on this application soon.
