Trump promised a quick end to the Ukraine war before taking office again.
Kiev / Moscow / Washington: Russia has carried out its largest drone strike so far during the war in Ukraine, using a record 728 drones in a single night.
According to the foreign news agency AFP, the attack came after US President Donald Trump promised to provide Kiev with more defensive weapons and directly criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Ukrainian Air Force claimed to have destroyed almost all of the drones, including those using electronic jamming systems. The attack is a continuation of a growing number of Russian air strikes in recent weeks.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that tough sanctions are needed immediately on Russia’s sources of war funding, especially countries that buy Russian oil.
Zelensky has also issued instructions to intensify contacts with the United States for the immediate supply of air defense systems and weapons.
Trump had previously indicated that he would support a law that would impose a 500 percent tariff on Russian exports, including oil, gas, and uranium.
President Trump said: “We want to have some surprises” and called Putin “nice but mean.”
Meanwhile, the European Union is also considering imposing new sanctions on Moscow.
It should be remembered that Trump promised a quick end to the war in Ukraine before taking office again, but Russia has not yet accepted Trump’s unconditional ceasefire proposal, while Ukraine has already accepted it.
