Sialkot, polling underway for PP-52 by-elections, tight security arrangements

This seat fell vacant after the death of PML-N Member of Provincial Assembly Chaudhry Arshad Warraich.

Sialkot: By-elections are being held in Punjab Assembly constituency PP-52 Sialkot today.

The polling process began at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm without any break.

According to the Election Commission, the total number of registered voters in the constituency is 297,185, including 157,725 male voters and 139,460 female voters.

To make the election process effective and organized, a total of 185 polling stations have been set up in the constituency, including 57 male, 57 female and 71 combined polling stations.

This seat fell vacant after the death of PML-N Member of Provincial Assembly Chaudhry Arshad Warraich. 15 candidates are in the fray in the by-elections, including prominent candidates from major political parties.

Hina Arshad Warraich, the daughter of a deceased member, is the candidate from the Muslim League (N), Fakhir Nishat Ghuman is in the fray as a candidate supported by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and Raheel Kamran Cheema is in the fray from the Pakistan Peoples Party.

The District Police Sialkot has taken foolproof security measures to ensure law and order.

According to the police, more than 2,000 police personnel, officers and elite force personnel are performing security duties in the constituency, while additional personnel have been deployed at sensitive polling stations.
