Terrifying floods in Texas; 78 people dead, 10 girls from summer camp still missing

The area hardest hit by the floods is Kerr County, where 68 people have been confirmed dead.

The severe and unexpected flooding in Texas has caused devastation.

According to reports from different parts of the state, at least 78 people have died so far, including 28 children, while 41 people are still missing.

The area most affected by the flooding is Kerr County, where 68 people have been confirmed dead. The famous Christian summer camp called ‘Camp Mystic’ was severely damaged, where 10 girls and a counselor are missing.

President Donald Trump expressed his regret over the incident and said that he may visit the affected area on Friday. He said that “this is a heartbreaking event, and we pray that the people of Texas will come out of this ordeal quickly.”

The flood was caused by an unusually high water level in the Guadalupe River after torrential rains. With just 15 inches of rain, 850 people were rescued, some of whom were clinging to trees.

State officials have warned that more rain and storms could cause more deaths. On the other hand, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Coast Guard helicopters are busy with relief operations.

Meanwhile, experts have warned that cuts to the National Weather Service by the Trump administration have likely affected timely warnings before floods. A former NOAA director said that staff shortages have weakened the ability to forecast.

When President Trump was asked about this, he tried to put the responsibility on former President Biden and said that “this is a 100-year disaster, it is not fair to blame anyone.”
