Ahmedabad: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic Air India crash.
Modi said in a statement on social media platform X (X): “The tragedy that has taken place in Ahmedabad has shaken us. This grief is beyond words. My prayers and sympathies are with the affected people and their families in this difficult time. Ministers and relevant agencies are busy with immediate relief operations.”
On the other hand, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also described the incident as heartbreaking. He said: “The crash of a London-bound plane in Ahmedabad is presenting devastating scenes, in which several British citizens were also on board. I am constantly monitoring the situation and my prayers are with the passengers and their families.”
It may be recalled that Air India flight AI-171 had left Ahmedabad for London on Thursday but crashed moments after takeoff, with 242 people on board.
