ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan is committed to achieving comprehensive and practical results after assuming the presidency of the UN Security Council.
In his statement on the social networking platform X (formerly Twitter), Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that today Pakistan is assuming the presidency of the United Nations Security Council for July 2025. This presidency has been achieved during the eighth term (2025-26) of Pakistan as an elected member.
He said that Pakistan is assuming this responsibility with humility, firm conviction and deep commitment to the UN Charter, international law and the multilateral system. Our presidency is coming at a time when conflicts and humanitarian crises are intensifying around the world.
Ishaq Dar said that we will make every effort to lead the Security Council towards effective and timely actions that are based on dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful solutions. He said that God willing, during this month, I will chair 2 high-level representative meetings.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that establishing global peace and security through multilateralism and peaceful resolution of disputes, cooperation between the UN and the OIC will remain Pakistan’s priority. In addition, he will also chair the quarterly open debate on the issue of Palestine.
Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan is committed to achieving comprehensive, balanced and practical results in collaboration with all member states.
